How to Remove Your Old Motocross Graphics Before Installing New Ones?
Are you planning to add some more spark to your KTM bike by using the
KTM 150 Graphics Kit you recently purchased? If yes, you have certainly
taken a good decision. However, before you move ahead and install the
new graphics, you must get rid of the old ones your bike has.
You
are wrong if you think that removing graphics is an easy job. For some,
this job turns out to be even more complicated than installing new
graphics. The section below will help you to learn the easiest way of
getting rid of the stickers and graphics on your two-wheeler.
Why Removing Old Bike Graphics Is So Difficult?
When
the graphics on our bike remain exposed to the sun for prolonged
periods, the plastics they are printed on tend to get baked. This makes
it almost impossible to peel those stickers off from their edge. Here,
it must be noted that if you use high-quality products like the KTM 150 Graphics Kit, you are unlikely to face the above situations.
This
leaves us with the question, how one should remove old graphics when
their edges get stuck on the bike’s surface. The next section includes a
detailed answer to this question.
How to Remove Old Motocross Graphics from Bikes?
Step 1: Find
your hairdryer. If you don’t use one, borrow one from your neighbor or
buy a new one. You will not be able to accomplish the job without a
hairdryer.
Step 2: Turn on the dryer. Keeping
it in high mode, hold it around an inch above the graphics. Use the
dryer to apply heat onto the sticker for around 30 seconds. Make sure
that your old sticker is not getting too hot. That’s because excessive
heat can end up softening the bike’s paint.
Step 3:
Find a credit card that is no longer in use. Use the card for picking
at the sticker’s edge. Continue until the sticker comes up. If you still
fail to remove the sticker, apply some more heat to the area. After 30
seconds of heat application, repeat the same action using the card. This
time, you shouldn’t find it difficult to peel the sticker up.
Step 4:
After removing the sticker, you will most likely have some glue on your
bike’s surface. Remove the glue using a solution prepared by mixing
alcohol and water. Allow the area to dry up and you are now ready to
begin the installation of the new KTM motocross graphics.
If you
feel that the above steps are too complex, you can hire a professional
to do the entire job on your behalf. The person will also install the
new stickers to give your bike a more striking appearance.
